Although Rayland Baxter hails from the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee,
he seems to really like the ocean, because he comes here to our little
coastal town quite often. We at EoU could not be happier about that, and
anytime he is playing nearby, you can usually count a large number of
feather earrings and Jeffrey Campbell shoes in the audience. We love him,
and we cannot stay away.
And, yes, maybe we do fall in love with all of our featured musicians...
Maybe we do get crushes anytime a handsome fella sings about love in
front of us... But I dare a single one of you out there to not get at least
a little pitter patter in your chest after listening to ____________. Yeah,
fill in the blank because they are all great, and also because it goes with
our intended interview theme of a special EoU edition of mad libs. I say
intended, because it didn't quite work out that way. We had just started to
figure out a music/fashion/fun mad lib to fill out, but Rayland just couldn't
stay out of the creative process of it all. He jumped right in and made his
own story. Which is AWESOME. And the sweetest little bird story you have
ever read. And, even if it does not quite fit into the whole technical mad
lib scheme of things (you know, since he wrote the story and filled in the
blanks as well,) it is still that much cooler because he wrote it just for us.
Rayland brought along a couple of folks for his photo shoot, because, if
you are doing a Three Amigos themed photo shoot, you should really have
three people, right? Joining him for the shoot were Stanton Adcock, the
highly talented guitar picker who is currently touring around playing music
with Rayland, and the Seņorita Kelly, (because who doesn't want a pretty
little birdie around for inspiration?) We wish we could have also had a few
singing horses and a talking turtle, but after a couple of hours of phoning
around, Katie learned, much to her dismay, that in the real world these
things don't exist.
Be sure to check out Rayland's tour dates here to see if he will be stopping
in a town near you this month. I promise you a delightful evening full of
swaying melodies and lyrical wonders you won't soon forget.
